The Gilded Age of the House Museum: Building a Collection to Preserve One's Own Vision
1/1
Veronique Chagnon-Burke is the academic director of Christie's Education and she will be joining us from New York this July to give a lecture on historic house museums, which could be seen as the predecessor to private museums, so popular in this part of the world today. Her lecture will draw from examples such as The Frick Collection in New York, the Musee Jacquemart-Andre in Paris and the Isabella Steward Gardner Museum in Boston, and chart their evolution. Veronique is a specialist in the history of 19th century French art and her fields of expertise also include 19th century art criticism and women artists.
